The theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) is “Jungle Safari” and was held from 17 – 19 Dec 2014.

Our annual VBS welcomed 30 children. The Jungle Safari and its thematic decorations enhanced the “camping” experience. The campers learned three Biblical stories and supporting verses.

On Day 1, the campers learned about Creation and how “without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin.” The hero is Jesus Christ, the seed of the woman, who will one day crush the head of the lying serpent. (Gen 3).

On Day 2, the campers learned about the main purpose of the 10 Commandments was to be a school-master to point them to the need of Jesus, the Savior (Gal. 3:24, Exodus 20).

On Day 3, theimage5 campers were treated to a short “Emmy-Award” dramatization of the fearful Roman guards, the concerned women and the Angel of the Lord declaring “He is Risen” (Matt 28:6) and the purpose of the Resurrection (1 Cor 15:3b-4). The children enjoyed learning through the crafts and games that were built on each lesson.

The last evening culminated in a potluck meal

While drawing parallels to all parents who demand justice in the face of sin upon their children, such as the recent victims of the Pakistan school massacre, Pastor Ng brought home the need for both the righteousness and love of God. Jesus had to die for our sins. We need Jesus to rescue us. We pray that both parent and child would truly understand the real meaning of Christmas.
