Vacation Bible School (VBS) Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Grace Bible Fellowship (GBF)?
Vacation Bible School is a 3-day Christian event for children aged 7-12. It is typically held during the December school holiday each year. During the VBS, we desire to teach bible truths to children through fun-filled activities such as puppet show, skits, games and crafts.

2. Can my child join if we are not Christians?
Yes. The VBS is open to all children regardless of religion.

3. What is the theme for VBS this year?
Our theme for VBS this year is “Treasure Hunters”, where children will embark on an treasure hunt in search for the hidden treasure. Throughout the journey, they will learn about the Great King who makes a map to lead to a great treasure. The treasure hunters will face setbacks and challenges on their way to finally find and learn about this great treasure…

4. Will the VBS be held outdoors?
The VBS will be held indoors within GBF premises and at no point of time will the children be taken outdoors.

5. How much does the VBS cost?
The VBS is free for all kids to join! If you like, you may also give a freewill offering in our offering box on the day of the VBS.

6. Are there health measures in place to ensure that the children are safe?
We will typically do a general health screening when the children arrive in the morning (temperature check, check for ulcers and blisters). However, we will also encourage all parents to help us ensure that your child is fit for the VBS before they arrive too.

7. What is a typical day like during the VBS?
The VBS programme is held from 9.30 am – 5 pm. Each day, we will begin the VBS with lively songs of praises to worship God our Creator. This is followed by an exciting pre-lesson introduction (e.g. puppet shows or skits) before the bible lessons begin. There will be two bible lessons taught each day on top of other activities such as scripture memory games and crafts. Lunch and two teabreaks (morning and afternoon snacks) will be provided too.

8. What should I do if my child has allergies and/or other dietary requirements or special requests?
If you have listed an allergy and/or dietary requirements on your child’s registration form, we will be made aware of this and will do our best to cater accordingly.

9. Should parents or guardians stay or leave after bringing their kids for the VBS?
Parents or guardians are welcome to stay during the VBS if they desire. Please inform us under the “special requests / allergies / dietary needs” section of the registration page so that we can cater sufficient food for all three days.

10. How should I inform you if my child has specific needs?
You can inform us of your needs accordingly under the “special requests / allergies / dietary needs” section of the registration page. We will try our best to meet your requests where possible. We highly recommend your child attends through all 3 days of the VBS for a continuous experience and as the slots are limited, we would like to offer all attendees who have a confirmed slot the same focus and experience.

11. When will the registration for VBS 2019 close?
We will appreciate if you can register your child for VBS 2019 no later than 30 November 2019 so that we will have sufficient time to prepare for the materials and logistics.
